Mull 2012 – Day 5

Today, after an extremely lazy morning, we decided to drive to Fionnphort and take the ferry to Iona.

After a brief spot of lunch (fish and chips – mmmmm, nothing like the greasy rubbish back home!) we walked on the beach for a little while…

Mountain climbing, three year old style :-)

… then walked up the road to see the Abbey (but didn’t pay to go in). I spent a small fortune in the gift shop – we know three little girls called Iona; two at MG & DG’s school & one in a family we’re so close to that MG & DG think we’re related; so I thought it would be nice to buy a little Iona something for the mums!

Waiting for the ferry, MG wrote Iyonre in the sand. She can write the name Iona for her friends, but she put her lovely spelling into effect for the island name!

We picked up a couple of books in the RNLI book garage and driving home saw our first close-up Heilan Coo of the holiday, and Ben More obscured by clouds.

A generally relaxing day, with a bit of whinging from DG on account of the walking; and from Mummy on account of the headache I was suffering from all day!

  1. I am enjoying these holiday posts and relaxing vicariously through you. Not wanting to wish time away but I can’t wait until J is old enough to enjoy pebble beaches and tree climbing…what a marvellous existence!

    • I know! Every age is lovely in it’s own way but the downside of more independence and being able to climb trees etc is that they’re growing more apart from you into themselves every day. Good, but I also miss being completely wanted sometimes! ;-)

  2. Catching up with your holiday diary and loving it all – what a memorable, wonderful holiday for your girls! Just perfect.
