Welcome to child-led chaos. This blog is written by Anne-Marie, mum of two monsters girl children based in Oxfordshire UK, and contains a mixture of books; ramblings about education and mental health; books; fun family activities; and books.
I’m probably somewhere between a book-blogger and a parent-blogger but more than anything I am just myself, no category required. The stars of my life are MG and DG, short for Mighty Girl and Destructo Girl, because they’re my superheroes. At the time of writing they are just-turned six and almost-four.
I am a bit of a book addict, rediscovering my love of picture books and literacy since having children. I’m on the committee for the Oxford Children’s Book Group and volunteer at our local primary school listening to children read.
I’m passionate about education and over time have developed a non-mainstream view of what education should be. I’m especially interested in Montessori and autonomous home education. I have very strong views on gender stereotyping and refuse to let my daughters (or any person) be defined by their gender.
I used to work as a database applications developer until May 2011 and since then have mainly been a stay-at-home-mum with the odd work project. I’m not keen on returning to IT work and plan to make up a career in education and literacy at some point in the future.
